Women's Cricket World Cup India 2013



The tournament was held in the month of February 2013.
Australia won the Women's World Cup 2013 by defeating West Indies in the final.

India ended up in the 7th place in the rankings by defeating Pakistan by 6 wickets.

Suzi Bates of Australia scored the maximum number of runs (407).

Megan Schutt of Australia picked up 15 wickets to be at the top of the bowlers.
 
 Border Gavaskar Rolling Trophy 2013

The Border–Gavaskar Trophy is a Test cricket series, played between India and Australia. It has witnessed some of the most competitive Test series played in recen
t years, with results usually either being a narrow win for one of the sides or a closely fought draw.

India won the 2013 edition of Border Gavaskar Trophy by trouncing Australia. India won the series 4-0 in the 4-match test series to complete a clean sweep over the Aussies. Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged the man-of-the series for picking up 29 wickets in the 4 tests. The series also witnessed the entry of debutant Shikhar Dhawan who made his presence felt with a superb knock of 187 in the third test.
Shikhar Dhawan scored the fastest century on Test debut in the Third Test at Mohali, scoring from 85 balls. His final score was 187 which is also the highest score by an Indian on debut

IPL (Indian Premier League) 2013

  
 

The 2013 edition IPL was won by Mumbai Indians.
Dwayne Bravo was the leading wicket-taker with 32 wickets in the season
Michael Hussey was the most successful batsman, scoring 733 runs.

The tournament also witnessed some match-fixing allegations with some players and team franchises involving in corruption.

Champions Trophy 2013

 India won the last edition of the Champions Trophy held in England and Wales.



 The Champions Trophy will be replaced by World Test Championship in 2013.

 Shikhar Dhawan was the man of the series for scoring the maximum number of runs.

 Ravindra Jadeja proved to be the best bowler, picking up 12 wickets.

The entire general insurance business in India was nationalised by the Government of India (GOI) through the General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Act (GIBNA) of 1972. 55 Indian insurance companies and 52 other general insurance operations of other companies were nationalized through the act.
The General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) was formed in pursuance of Section 9(1) of GIBNA. It was incorporated on 22 November 1972 under the Companies Act, 1956 as a private company limited by shares. GIC was formed to control and operate the business of general insurance in India.
The GOI transferred all the assets and operations of the nationalized general insurance companies to GIC and other public-sector insurance companies. After a process of mergers and consolidation, GIC was re-organized with four fully owned subsidiary companies: National Insurance Company Limited, New India Assurance Company Limited, Oriental Insurance Company Limited and United India Insurance Company Limited.
